The organizing committee of Easton Airport Day is delighted to announce the return of Bluepoint Hospitality as the presenting sponsor of the Rubber Chicken Drop Contest during the 14th annual Easton Airport Day on October 12, 2024.
The highly anticipated Easton Airport Day will once again feature a captivating display of rare and unique aircraft, military jets, planes, pilots, and airport equipment. The event gates and Warbird Ramp, sponsored by Qlarant, will open at 9:15 a.m., with the Opening Ceremonies commencing at 10 a.m. on the terminal ramp. At noon, the Warbirds of Easton Airport Day will take flight, performing mass formation flying above the airport and Talbot County.
As formations break and before aircraft land back at the airport, pilots will compete in the Rubber Chicken Drop Contest. Here, they seize their last chance to showcase their skills, flying a few feet above the runway and directing rubber chickens toward the target: the bed of an Easton Airport pickup truck.
Achieving this feat proves challenging, with numerous chickens missing the mark and drawing playful criticism from fellow pilots later in the day. To date, no pilot has successfully landed on the truck bed. Could this year be different?
“The Rubber Chicken Drop Contest is a beloved feature of Easton Airport Day,” Easton Airport Manager Micah Risher said. “We are grateful to have Bluepoint Hospitality sponsor this exciting event again, showcasing the joy and skill of flying.”
As the event gears up for another exciting year of aviation festivities, the committee would also like to celebrate the monumental achievement of Harley Peet, executive chef at Bas Rouge in Easton, owned and operated by Bluepoint Hospitality. Peet was awarded the prestigious James Beard award for “Best Chef” in the Mid-Atlantic region, a testament to Bluepoint Hospitality’s commitment to culinary excellence.
Easton Airport Day is free to attend. A full schedule of activities for Easton Airport Day 2024 will be available online at www.eastonairportday.com, with regular updates posted on the Easton Airport Facebook and Instagram page @EastonAirport.
