Typically in late summer and early fall, Easton Airport will receive inquiries from citizens reporting low flying aircraft in Talbot County. Many of those aircraft are aerial seeding for Maryland’s Cover Crop Program at local farms.
What is the State of Maryland’s Cover Crop Program? Cover crops are a farmers first line of defense against erosion and runoff. These specific crops recycle nitrogen, reduce erosion, add valuable organic matter to the soil, and can help protect fields and waterways.
This is a common operation that is FAA approved and has no relation to Easton Airport. The flights are not originating from Easton Airport, nor do we have any authority over the aircraft other than basic air traffic control advisories.
Please help us spread the word about this environmentally beneficial operation. Learn more about the program at: https://mda.maryland.gov/resource_conservation/pages/cover_crop.aspx
