Project Update and Operational Impacts
As the calendar turns into September, we are looking forward to moving into the next phase of the Airfield Modernization Program.
The next phase of the project will focus on upgrading the airfield’s electrical infrastructure. This will involve installing a new electrical vault and regulators, running new conduit for the entire length of the new airfield configuration, and new airfield lighting control systems. A complete airfield closure for 4 days will be needed to complete the work in the intersection of the runways.
Runway 15/33 is also going to receive rehabilitation in the coming months. This will involve filling existing cracks, applying seal coat, and fresh paint. It’s necessary to improve the condition of Runway 15/33, as it will see more air traffic in the coming years as we continue to work through our program. We know these closures may be inconvenient, but they are necessary to make these improvements.
Please note the following upcoming operational impacts:
Runway 15-33 Closed – December 1 to December 22
Airport Closed – December 19 to December 22 (Ramps/Taxiways Available for Helicopter Operations)
Runway 4-22 Closed – January 5 to February 3
