Join Easton Airport’s ACE Program and Easton Composite Squadron – Civil Air Patrol (CAP) for summer learning activities.
Free for ages 12-16, registration required.

What's included, things to know, and more...
Participants will receive materials needed for the activity, snacks, and bottled water. Activities are indoors/outdoors. Comfortable attire and sunscreen is advised.
The age range of students for summer ACE activities is middle school to early high school (12-16 years old). The number of students per learning activity is max 20 students. Parents/Guardians with multiple kids should sign up each child individually.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED ALONG WITH PARENT CONSENT. Once sessions reach capacity, we will transition to a waitlist and communicate accordingly. Prior to the start of the session, all participants, will be emailed a welcome letter with any updates on program specifics.
Session Schedule & Info
Activity One: Aircraft Characteristics
July 14 – 9:00-11:00 a.m. – ACE Hangar
Students will work in a team to make a paper airplane. The lesson goes over the acquisition process of how companies buy planes for capabilities that the company desires in the proposal. The students will be assigned a different role when designing and building the paper airplane. After the building time all of the teams will compete to see who has made a plane that stays in the air for the longest amount of time. The students will also learn about the major and important parts of the aircraft. This will teach students about the different parts of airplanes.
Activity Two: Cams & Cranks STEM Kit
July 15 | 9:00-11:00 a.m. – ACE Hangar
Students will learn how to transmit power using cams and cranks as well as how they can be used to convert reciprocal motion to linear motion. The lesson will have students build 8 working models to go over this process. After building model students will be able to adjust the handle position and cranks position. Students will see how adjusting the handle and crank position affects the force and speed of the model that they have built.
Activity Three: Model Rocket Construction (Part 1)
July 21 – 9:00-11:00 a.m. – ACE Hangar
Students will learn about the age of rocketry and the great pioneers of rocketry. The students will also learn about the parts of the model rocket. The class will go over the laws of motion. The students will build a model rocket for launch. The students will also get to decorate their rockets.
Activity Four: Model Rocket Launch Day (Part 2)
July 22 – (Offsite) Time and Location TBA
Students will get to launch their rockets. The lesson will go over safety on launching the rockets. We will be covering staying at a safe distance and paying attention during launches. We will also go over how to launch the rocket where an adult member will be running the launch set up and supervising the launch. The students will learn how to pack their model rockets and then they will pack the rocket to have the rocket ready for launching.
