Easton Airport’s inaugural Walk & Talk series is a success

Easton Airport has wrapped the inaugural “Walk & Talk” airport open house series after logging many miles and smiles on the community airfield. There were rave reviews, engaging conversations, and great photo-ops for all the attendees that participated.

The May 2021 series invited groups of around 25 people to a morning on the tarmac. Approximately 100 guests registered for the opportunity to have a behind-the-scenes look at airport operations.

Airport management hoped Walk & Talk would give the community a chance to get outside and back to regularly scheduled activities after a prolonged period of stay-at-home orders and isolation. The positive feedback from attendees showed they appreciated the chance to come together as they enjoyed their time exploring the airport.

“It is always a pleasure to speak to our residents and neighbors about Easton Airport’s operations,” Easton Airport Manager Micah Risher said. “Attendees came with great questions, were interested in our rich history and future development plans, and wanted to know when they could bring their family and friends back for a visit.”

During the tours, management made stops to take photos of aircraft and equipment that were out during the event. A visit with the Maryland State Police – Aviation Command’s hangar was a highlight of the event. Attendees met the crews flying operations on the Trooper 6 medevac helicopter stationed at Easton Airport.

“After months of gathering restrictions, it was nice to organize an event and be together again,” Easton Airport Business & Marketing Coordinator Jeff Lankford said. “We thank all of our guests for coming out and being wonderful participants, and also thank the airport businesses, pilots, and troopers for being accommodating during the tours.”

Now that many of the COVID-19 event restrictions have lifted in Maryland, Easton Airport management is planning to bring more events back to the airport. Those plans include a fall Walk & Talk series that can accommodate more guests during each tour.
