Easton Airport Day Returns this Saturday

Warbirds, Rubber Chicken Drop Contest, Parachute Demos, ACE Tent, and Family Fun Await at Easton Airport Day 2024

Easton Airport Day will take place at Easton Airport on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 9:15 AM to 2:00 PM. Sponsored by The Oaks Waterfront Inn, this beloved annual event celebrates the legacy of aviation with a day packed full of aerial displays, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to explore the world of aviation.

Warbirds and Formation Flyovers

The highlight of Easton Airport Day is the impressive warbird aircraft that will be on display and take to the skies. Sponsored by Qlarant, these vintage military planes will participate in skillful flyovers, offering a rare chance to see these historical aircraft in action.

At 11:45 AM, the warbirds will fire up their engines for a mass formation take-off at 12:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to visit the Qlarant Warbird Ramp for an up-close look of the planes before they take flight.

Chicken Drop Challenge

The Rubber Chicken Drop Contest is a fun and quirky tradition at Easton Airport Day, where pilots attempt to drop rubber chickens from a low-flying aircraft into the back of an airport truck parked between the runway and spectators.

Sponsored by Bluepoint Hospitality, spectators can watch the action unfold from the ground while listening to the announcer’s commentary, cheering on the contestants as they attempt this unique challenge. Don’t miss this crowd favorite contest starting around 12:30 PM.

Demonstrations by the Naval Academy Parachute Team

An exciting addition this year, the U.S. Naval Academy Parachute Team will perform two skydive demonstrations. The first jump, taking place during the Opening Ceremonies at 10:00 AM, will feature a dive from the WWII veteran C-47 Placid Lassie. Later, at 12:00 PM, they will perform a second jump from the classic Beechcraft Model 18.

In between demos, visitors can learn about their role as future Navy and Marine Corps officers by visiting the team at the ACE Tent on the terminal ramp.

Interactive Family Activities and Education

At the Aviation Career Education (ACE) Tent, sponsored by AECOM, learn about aviation careers and enjoy meeting aviators, instructors, drone operators, and more. The F-104 Starfighter sits near the ACE Tent, offering photo-ops inside the famed aircraft. The “Rescue the Starfighter” restoration initiative officially launches during the event, come learn how you can help the cause. Talbot County Department of Emergency Services will also provide demonstrations of their drones at approximately 10:30 AM on the ramp near the ACE Tent.
