The Easton Airport Day event committee is thrilled to announce that Bluepoint Hospitality will return as the presenting sponsor of the Rubber Chicken Drop Contest during the 14th annual Easton Airport Day on October 14, 2023.
The highly anticipated Easton Airport Day, sponsored by Scott & Tracy Wagner, will once again feature a captivating display of rare and unique aircraft, military jets, planes, pilots, and airport equipment. The event gates and Warbird Ramp, sponsored by Qlarant, will open at 9:15 a.m. Easton Airport Day Opening Ceremonies will commence at 10 a.m. on the terminal ramp. At noon, the Warbirds of Easton Airport Day will take to the skies, performing mass formation flying above the airport and Talbot County.
As the aircraft make their return to the airfield, they will transition to the entertaining Rubber Chicken Drop Contest. This challenge allows the pilots to show their skills to the audience one last time, as they roar down the runway and toss rubber chickens towards their target – the bed of an Easton Airport pickup truck.
“The Rubber Chicken Drop Contest is a blast and a highlight of Easton Airport Day,” Easton Airport Manager Micah Risher said. “We are honored to have Bluepoint Hospitality back as the sponsor of this unique competition. It is a true example of how much fun aviators have flying these amazing machines.”
Throughout the year, pilots eagerly anticipate this fun-filled challenge. The objective is simple: the pilot who gets their rubber chicken closest to the target truck wins. Some pilots even engineer their own “chicken launchers” for their aircraft, aiming to gain an edge over the competition. Yet, despite their efforts, hitting the bullseye has proven to be an elusive feat.
Easton Airport Day is free to attend. Various food vendors will be on-site, offering a delectable array of lunch, sweets, drinks, and tasty treats. A full schedule of activities for Easton Airport Day 2023 will be available online at www.eastonairportday.com with regular updates posted on the Easton Airport Facebook and Instagram page @EastonAirport.
